4 Things to Consider When Buying Home Theater Chairs

4 Things to Consider When Buying Home Theater Chairs

Having your own home theater is like buying a movie franchise and enjoying yourself without leaving home. Now all you'll need is a good home theater chair. Your old lazyboy will probably do, but why not splurge on a chair that's made to recreate the look and feel of a real movie theater? Here are some tips to help you with your choice:

Comfort
Never buy a chair, especially one you intend to use in your home theater, without first testing it. You should be comfortable enough in that chair for the hour or so you normally spend watching a film. If your spine is stressed or if your legs are uncomfortable, don’t think your body will adjust to it later. Buy a home theater chair that's soft but firm, has the right height, arm length and size.

Features
There's a chair and then there's a home theater chair. For a next-to-authentic movie theater experience, why not combine plush comfort with features guaranteed to maximize your viewing experience? Many theater chairs come with built-in storage and fold-out trays, allowing you to place drinking cups safely within your reach, keeping your hands free and your carpet clean. You can even pick a chair with a motorized recliner, allowing you to adjust your comfort level and, if it comes to it, falling asleep in the middle of a really bad movie.

Material
Home theater chairs come in a variety of materials. Simply choose the one that offers the most comfort at a price you can afford. The best choice, of course, is leather, specifically the top grain kind. This is the one made using top hide and is very soft but durable. It's also quite expensive but it's the kind of home theater chair that will last for many years.

There are also other choices, such as vinyl, imitation leather, fabric and microfiber. Of these, microfiber would probably be your best buy. It's soft, comfortable and offers nearly the same durability as genuine leather.

Color
Color is probably the last concern you should have in mind when buying a home theater chair. After all, that chair will be spending much of its life in semi-darkness. However, if you can, the best one would be a chair with a color that will blend well with the room or at least complement it. But if your heart is set on a chair that nobody else likes, that's okay. The most important thing a chair can offer should be comfort and if it has that, you can compromise with the rest.
